Heathrow currently has five operational terminals (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5). These serve over 80 airlines and in 2013 handled approximately 72.3 million passengers. A new Terminal 2 opened in 2014 after undergoing a major modernisation programme.
Terminal 1 is home to all of Heathrow's domestic flights, as well as some European and long-haul destinations, with 19 airlines operating from it. In 2012, the terminal handled 13.8 million passengers on 114,830 flights.
Flight arrivals are located on the ground floor for international passengers and on the first floor for those arriving from the UK, Republic of Ireland and the Channel Islands.

Terminal 2 mainly accommodates long-haul flights, although some are to European destinations. There are currently 26 airlines operating from it. In 2014 a brand new terminal opened. Flight arrivals are located on the ground floor at the front of the building.

Terminal 3 mainly accommodates long-haul flights, although some are to European destinations. There are currently 22 airlines operating from it. In 2012, the terminal handled 18.4 million passengers on 92,639 flights. Flight arrivals are located on the ground floor at the front of the building.

Flights operating from Terminal 4 are mainly for long-haul and European destinations. There are currently 36 airlines operating from it. In 2012, the terminal handled 10.4 million passengers on 60,109 flights. Flight arrivals are located on the ground floor.

Terminal 5 is used exclusively by British Airways for both domestic and international flights with the exception of airline Iberia. In 2012, the terminal handled 29.8 million passengers on 199,627 flights.
